I’ve finally managed to get started on Greg Gillespie’s mega-dungeon Barrowmaze with my group of players. It uses the Old School Roleplaying (OSR) rules of Labyrinth Lord, which aren’t the best rules ever but good enough for this nostalgia romp through hack-and-slashing.
But it involves a lot of random tables. Recently I also encountered the Perchance Random Generator, so I decided to use it for creating some useful generators for Barrowmaze. They are mostly based on tables from Labyrinth Lord revised, Advanced Labyrinth Lord and Barrowmaze, but I may have tweaked or extended them a bit. YMMV. As these may be of use for others I’ll add them below:
Random Encounters – A general random encounter generator for the Barrowmaze campaign where you can select area.
Barrowmaze Dungeon Restock – A generator to see if previously cleared areas have been restocked, and if so, with what.
Random Traps – a generator to create random traps for Labyrinth Lord (OSR).
Random Treasure – A generator to create random treasure according to the Labyrinth Lord tables.
Random Magical Item – A generator to create random magical items for Labyrinth Lord.
